industry, enabling it to render turnkey services.
- LMV has a Joint Venture agreement with Indaba Professionals (Pty) Ltd.
Information and Communication Technology (ICT)
Software
- Extensive use is made of computer-aided drawing (CAD) and design technology.
- GeoInformation System (GIS) software is used extensively as a support tool.
- Our software is capable of interpreting (importing and exporting) a wide range
of software systems enabling us to exchange data with other specialists.
- The company uses commercial software, but is an avid supporter of Free/ Libré Open
Source Software (FLOSS).
- A dedicated Proxy Server reduces Internet traffic (FLOSS).
- A dedicated DNS Server optimizes our LAN (FLOSS).
- Complete system backups are scheduled on a programmed basis to reduce the
chance of data corruption and loss.
- Backups are stored off-site.
Hardware
- Engineering and Town Planning surveys are performed using our own Total Station.
- Our data storage capacity currently exceeds 5 Terabyte.
- GIS workstations are linked via fast 1 Gigabyte wired LAN connections.
- Our LAN is extended through a secure wireless network.
Communication
- Our offices are linked using VPN via the Internet (ADSL) to unify and increase
our production ability.
- LMV has a dedicated FTP, E-mail and Webserver.
